The New Face of Climate Activism
'Where We Live' was produced by the EDGE Funders Alliance and the Solidago Foundation in collaboration with Kontent Films. This short documentary has been instrumental in increasing the level of foundation funding to the grassroots organizing sector.
The film looks at California's ‘No on Prop 23’ campaign and reveals the new face of climate activism. The communities most affected by industrial pollution, not surprisingly, are also the communities of color, closest to the front lines.
In order to prevent the overturning of landmark clean air legislation, thoughtful committed citizens and grassroots coalitions forged alliances with the traditional environmental groups to get out the vote. Despite major opposition, the long term organizing within these communities proved a powerful adversary.
